The Dutch Caribbean Desk at Thuis Partners Advocaten provides legal assistance to Dutch (family) companies that are shareholders or beneficial owners in a legal entity established in one of the islands of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. Our advisory services primarily address legal issues related to restructuring, mergers and demergers, liquidation, shareholder disputes, inquiry and buyout procedures, or director liability concerning the Antillean entity (primarily in Curacao) and the potential impact on the shareholder or director based in the Netherlands.
The Dutch Caribbean Desk is led by Dimitry Aertssen. Dimitry has had a strong affinity with the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom from a young age, regularly visiting the islands. He is familiar with both the history and current situation on the islands and is sensitive to cultural differences and nuances. He is well-versed in corporate law across the Kingdom’s countries (particularly the Netherlands and Curacao) and understands the distinctions between them. Additionally, Dimitry has an extensive network of lawyers, notaries, and tax advisors on the (former) Antilles.
